  • Waxing 101

Waxing unwanted or unsightly hair may seem like a painful price to pay for smooth skin, but the advantages and benefits are worth the few minutes of pain.

One of the well known and perhaps best benefits of waxing is that the hair grows back much slower than just shaving. For example, when one waxes the legs, the hair does not start growing back for about a week; yes, a whole week without having to shave! This also applies to other areas of the body like facial hair. Waxing one’s eyebrows makes the nice brow shape last longer than plucking, and waxing is much less painful and is also quicker when compared to threading.

Other advantages of waxing sometimes may be hard to notice if just waxing once in a while, but when one really commits to waxing routinely, one can notice the skin becoming lighter in these areas. What I mean by this is that many people have noticed that as they have gotten older areas like our underarms and parts of the bikini area have become darker. It almost seems like there is a slight shadow over these areas that will become noticeably lightened after only two or three wax sessions. Waxing our underarms and bikini area lightens those areas after only a few uses. This lightening affect even applies to areas like the upper lip. Although many women do not really have much hair there, many that do choose to bleach it or pluck it, but really both of these processes may make it look worse. By waxing you can, again, lighten up the skin and also get an even and clean hair removal. This means that you will not be left with hair lighter than the rest of your facial hair or with random hairs here and there.

One tip to remember when choosing to wax, do not abuse it. This means do not over wax any area of your body especially your face. If you over wax, then the skin will be left tender and weak. This can leave your pores open to infections, not to mention it can be very painful.
