New Liposuction Procedures Exposed: The Ultrasonic Liposuction
No Comments
The liposuction is the most requested and executed cosmetic surgery procedure. Over the years numerous new liposuction techniques have been introduced. The use of ultrasound, which is an idea developed in Italy in the mid 80s, has supplemented the traditional technique, but did not replace it: the most modern machinery for liposuction allow the use of ultrasounds simultaneously with traditional aspiration, creating a mixed new liposuction technique.
Ultrasonic liposuction involves the subcutaneous application of ultrasonic frequency of 20 kHz or similar: this requires the subcutaneous insertion of a handheld, an ultrasonic emitter, in size comparable to a normal suction cannula. The skin incisions necessary to perform this new liposuction procedure are identical to those required by traditional liposuction, and the surgical technique used also, if you exclude the medium used (ultrasounds instead of vacuum suction), is very similar to that of a conventional liposuction.
Before starting the application of ultrasounds, the tissues to be treated are infiltrated with a mixture of local anesthetic, epinephrine and a saline solution that is identical to that used in traditional intervention.
The effects of liposuction, regardless of the technique used, are permanent. Fat cells, adipocytes, are a stationary population that has no capacity to increase its number, so the elimination of cells aspirated is final. Adipocytes, however, have the property of being able to grow in size, while remaining numerically the same. This means that if you gain weight after the intervention, the sole benefit of liposuction will be maintaining a more uniform body contouring. For this reason liposuction is considered an excellent means of remodeling and elimination of irregularities, but not a way to lose weight, which could easily be regained.
The ultrasonic new liposuction has so far proven very safe, like the traditional one. If the surgery is performed in a properly equipped facility, the risk of complications is extremely low. However liposuction, by whatever technique used, is contraindicated if your desire is the loss of weight.
