  • How to pick your Nail Technicians

Nail technicians can be very different from nail salon to nail salon.  It is important that you find someone you like and can connect with on some level.  You never want to be sitting in someone’s chair getting a “relaxing” manicure when you don’t really get along.  One of the first things you should do when picking a nail technician, is get to know how they work, and find out if any of your friends have gotten a manicure or pedicure from them before.

Nail technicians in nail salons are also much different than nail technicians that are on their own doing their own thing.  I personally think everyone should go to an independent or specialist nail technician, because they seem to take much more pride in their work and take much better care of their clients.

Some nail technicians will specialize in natural nails while others may specialize in acrylics or uv gels.  A friend of mine has only done natural nails for the last 5 years and she gets referrals all the time from her friend who only does UV gel nails.  These girls both charge a bit more than your regular nail salon, but if you know what you like and they do a better job it may be worth it.

Always make sure to get references for a particular nail technician first.  Even though they are licensed, that doesn’t always mean they know what they are doing, or have practiced as much as you would think.  If you can’t get a reference, get a picture of some of their work.  Any nail tech that does artificial nail art will always have a portfolio, so check it out and see if you like  it.

I hope that this article will help you all to pick your next favorite nail technicians.
