  • Cost of Laser Hair-Removal

The price of laser hair removal varies wildly from place to place even in small geographical areas. There is no logic that effectively explains the huge variations in price for the same services. Perhaps as laser hair removal becomes more common the marketplace will begin to demand more standardized fees and competition will set the price.

Those days are still in the future. Today’s prices and fees are based more on collecting every last dollar the market will bear. Shop well and you will save a considerable amount of money. Take time to learn about a provider’s fee schedule and how they charge. Talk to patients who use a hair removal center you are considering. Is it working and are they pleased with the clinic?

Perhaps the most equitable charging scheme is usage based. The customer is billed for every pulse of the laser. Seems fair and easy to calculate but centers charging in this manner are a minority. The program fee for a series of treatments is much more common. The customer is billed a standard set fee for a certain number of sessions with the laser. Many places billing in this manner choose to only sell treatments as packages and it is up to you to determine if you are being overcharged.

Some laser centers justify their fees by stating they offer more or better treatments and or guarantee results. They may also have more licensed aestheticians on staff or even doctors and nurses to oversee their programs. Some centers also have multiple lasers of different types.

High-pressure sales techniques are a recent addition to marketing laser treatments. Sales people will contact you with coupons and offers that are only good today and you must sign up now. Some employ tactics to guarantee you no opportunity to shop around and find out what the competition is charging. Be wary of any company trying to pressure you into buying today. The cost of laser hair-removal is considerable and it is not likely to be covered by insurance.
